We're Connected

TaylorCNET (Community Network) provides free wireless Internet connection through public access points throughout the City. The City is blanketed by a regional high-speed broadband wireless mesh network by Eccentrix Wireless (10 mbps), plus advanced 3G wireless networks by major carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and more.

In addition to Wi-Fi, CNET includes a state-of-the-art distance access facility and computer lab located at the Community Technology Center which facilitates business and education for the entire community.

About TaylorCNET

TaylorCNET is a collaborative partnership between the City of Taylor, Taylor ISD, Taylor Economic Development, Williamson County, Taylor Housing Authority, Johns Community Hospital, Taylor Chamber of Commerce and Temple College at Taylor. This partnership is dedicated to the quality of life in Taylor and recognizes the important role technology plays in that objective. The generous state funding provided by the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund went a long way in helping TaylorCNET realize its goal. A five-member Board of Directors continues to provide leadership and guidance to a project that can only be viewed as a great success. TaylorCNET boasts 14 public access points (see list below) throughout the City, along with a state-of-the-art distance access facility and computer lab. TaylorCNET currently has one hot spot at the Chamber of Commerce and is coordinating with Eccentrix Wireless to deploy additional hot spots throughout the City, including the new Taylor Regional Park and Sports Complex. Sophisticated filtering is provided at all public access points to assure children are not accessing undesirable information. TaylorCNET is instrumental in keeping Taylor on the leading edge of technology in Central Texas.
