Incentives - By Type: Services/In Kind

Services/In Kind
  • Building Permits/Fees: The City of Taylor can provide a discount of up to one hundred percent (100%) of the cost of building permits fees and impact fees.

  • Plan Approvals: The City of Taylor offers FAST TRACK approval for all the permits required for construction. For example, site preparation drawings can be approved as soon as completed, and the site-work can begin immediately. Next, the foundation drawings can be submitted for approval, and when approved, the foundation work can begin for the entire project; and so on for each phase of construction. This approach has provided a process that allows construction to be completed sooner than forecast and typically under budget. In the event that some construction plans for advanced manufacturing systems exceed the technical expertise of the current planning and permitting staff at the City of Taylor, the city engineer may elect to submit the plans for review to a third party, using the same International Building Codes as the City of Taylor.

  • Workforce Training: The Skills Development Fund was created to finance customized job training for local businesses, in cooperation with Texas public community and technical colleges. The Fund was established by the Legislature in 1995 and is administered by the Texas Workforce Commission. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis to help fund companies who partner with community colleges, such as Temple College – Taylor Center and/or East Williamson County Higher Education Center (EWCHEC), to design custom job training that addresses the specific training needs of the company. Visit Workforce Skills

The average training award is $1,400 per trainee or $500,000 maximum per company workforce training grants; however, the benefit may vary depending on the proposal.

The Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area office serves our area through an office located at the EWCHEC in downtown Taylor. The Board offers recruiting assistance by screening employees and referring qualified individuals to the company for interviews. Job openings can be customized and posted on the “Work-in-Texas” website, a statewide job bank system. Visit www.workintexas.com

  • Employer Recruiting Services Assistance: In addition to the Workforce Training services mentioned above, the Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area also offers full-service recruiting, testing, screening and other related pre-employment services using resources such as Work In Texas. These services could be valued at approximately 20-30% of the value for each employee’s first year salary. Visit www.texasworkforce.org.
